But beneath that familiarity sits a single point of disruption — a bookshop on Celestial Avenue.

Unassuming at first glance, it exists as part of the city, yet never entirely belongs to it. Within its walls, objects carry histories they shouldn’t, stories surface from places that don’t exist, and forces from beyond this reality intersect with the everyday in ways that are difficult to explain and even harder to control.

This is not magic as it is commonly understood.

It is something far less stable.

THE FRACTURE: THE GLAM GIZMO

Everything traces back to one moment — an attempt to understand something beyond human perception.

The Keppell Machine was built to observe higher dimensions. Instead, it tore them open.

What should have remained theoretical became immediate. Boundaries that had once separated realities collapsed, and the consequences could not be contained. The rifts that followed did not close, and reality itself never fully repaired.

What emerged from that event became known as the Glam Gizmo.

Not an object. Not a singular invention.

But a condition — a fundamental weakening of reality, where dimensions overlap, identities blur, and the rules that once held everything in place begin to falter.

THE HIDDEN WAR

The fractures did not create something new. They revealed something that had always existed just beyond perception.

Across these overlapping realities are opposing forces — the Celestials and the Elementals — entities that operate on a scale far removed from human understanding.

The Celestials impose structure, order and intervention.
The Elementals embody entropy, instinct and correction.

Together, they exist in a delicate and often volatile balance, one that humanity was never meant to witness, let alone influence.

Earth was never part of this equation.

Now, inevitably, it is.

The city itself has not changed.

That is precisely what makes it unsettling.

The supernatural does not replace the familiar — it intrudes upon it, quietly and without permission. Life continues as it always has: work, relationships, routines, conversations that seem unchanged on the surface.

Reality can distort without warning. Memory can become unreliable. The impossible can enter a space and remain there, unquestioned.

Melbourne endures as a constant.

It explores what happens when reality itself becomes uncertain, and how individuals continue to function within it. Identity, control, belief and responsibility are all placed under pressure as the boundaries of the world begin to erode.

The extraordinary does not remove the ordinary.

It complicates it.

And within that complexity, each character is forced to decide not only what they believe — but who they are willing to become.

What begins as a series of isolated disturbances gradually reveals itself as part of something much larger.

Across seasons, specials and spin-offs, the Gizmoverse continues to expand — introducing new perspectives, new forces and new consequences that build upon what came before.
